Announcement
The Saudi Standards, Metrology and Quality Organization (SASO) has updated the
energy efficiency standard for air conditioners to (SASO 2663:2021), which was published in the Official
Gazette "Umm Al-Qura" on June 25th, 2021 AD. According to this update, the laboratories must update the scope of registration
certificates of laboratories to cover a new test method in standard no. (SASO 2663:2021), in order for SASO to accept
the applicants’ test report submitted in the SLS system. Starting on Jan 1st, 2022 AD, SASO will accept only applications
that are comply with standard no. (SASO 2663:2021). In addition, all registration certificates of laboratories in the SLS
system will expire in December 31st, 2021 AD. To update the certificates of conformity assessment bodies, please contact the
department of conformity assessment bodies acceptance by e-mail: q.cab_reg@saso.gov.sa
- Until 31 July 2017 AD, SASO will allow the registration of laboratories in the lighting products for laboratories which don't have the accreditation for standard (SASO 2870:2015) or reference standards mentioned in the testing methods, but it requires the presence of the SASO representatives for the test or a person authorized by SASO to attend the test.(The test will be held only once depending on the technology type of the light)
- Before 01 Aug 2017 AD, Laboratories must have an accreditation certificate from an accreditation body with full membership in ILAC and the scope of accreditation should include the standard (SASO 2870:2015) or reference standards mentioned in the testing methods.
Laboratory Registration:
- In order of the laboratory is registering recently or it remains registered in the SLS system (SASO) you should demonstrate that you meet conformity assessment approval regulations. For further information or if you have any questions, please contact by q.cab_reg@saso.gov.sa
- In case the Laboratory isn’t certified by the Registration of Conformity Assessment Bodies Department (RCBD), they should attach the application form to prove they are in the process of being certified. Any laboratory that fails to provide these evidence will be excluded from the SLS System.

Manufacturer laboratories can be registered directly (no certificate of accreditation needed)
on the SLS system for the Luminaire technology based on clause 5,
table 2 in Lighting Standard part II (SASO 2902: 2018)
Third party accredited laboratories for the testing requirements mentioned in the Lighting Standard
part II (SASO 2902: 2018), in the process of being accredited, may register on the SLS system after being accepted
by the conformity assessment bodies at The Saudi Standards, Metrology and Quality Organization (SASO)
Please find below the procedures to register the testing laboratories
For the new laboratory:
1- Click on the link below:

2- Choose the standard(s) that the laboratory is accredited to test its products
(For lighting products: LP1, LP2)
3- Choose the type of product(s) that the laboratory is accredited to test
4- Choose the laboratory type (according to clause (5), table (2) in the Lighting Standard Part II (SASO 2902:2018))
Note 1: Different test reports can be
produced from different laboratories (including manufacturer and accredited third party laboratories)
(i.e. Energy Efficiency test report can be provided from one laboratory while Endurance
test report can be produced from a different laboratory)
Note 2: For Environment requirements (Hazardous substances), self-declaration or test report
5- Fill the required fields.
6- Attach the required documents
Note 1: An official letter (signed and stamped)
has to be provided from the laboratories for the authorized person
to register the laboratory on the system
Note 2: For the first attachment
(Certificate of Accreditation issued by a full member of the International Laboratory Accreditation Organization (ILAC)),
Manufacturer laboratories can attach, instead of the certificate, any type of
evidence that they are capable of performing the required tests (on luminaires)
Note 3: For the other attachment (Registration Certificate of Conformity
Assessment Bodies (for energy efficiency laboratories))
- Third party laboratories: if the laboratory is in the process of being accepted by SASO
they can attach the form of registration
- Manufacturer laboratories: attach same evidence as in note 2 in item 6

- Choose new product
- Attach new scope of certificate of accreditation.
